Drama South Australia is excited to partner with the OzAsia Festival to offer a special event to DSA members for only $50 per ticket.
Join other DSA members at the Sake Bar at the Lucky Dumpling Market before heading to the Space Theatre to see Karu Tanino's masterpiece, The Dark Master.
When an ordinary hiker stumbles into a dark and timeworn restaurant in Osaka, he is surprisingly asked to take over the venue by the misanthropic chef, despite having no prior cooking experience.
The young man receives a cordless earphone and whispered instructions on how to make everything from the menu. From that moment on, the strange chef vanishes from sight; yet he sees everything, without being seen.
Delicious smells fill the theatre as the young man is instructed to cook for a host of endearing and colourful characters that enter the restaurant and lead us down paths which are both sensual and disturbing, burlesque and demonic. All the while, the audience listens in on the chef’s commands using headphones of their own.
After the performance, we are delighted to offer a Q&A with the director Karu Tanino and Joseph Mitchell, the Artistic Director of the OzAsia Festival.
5.30pm – Meet in the Sake Bar, Lucky Dumpling Market. Food and drinks available to purcahse.
6.15pm – Move to Space Theatre
6.30pm – The Dark Master (1hr 30mins)
8.15pm – Post-performance Q&A with Kuro Tanino (Writer/Director) and Joseph Mitchell (OzAsia Festival Artistic Director) (30mins)
