COMBINED ARTS CONFERENCE

Saturday 24th Feb. 2024 - Fullarton Park Community Centre

"A hugely fun, beneficial and inspirational day at the Combined Arts Conference yesterday.  Judy our DSA President presented an informative, thought provoking and engaging session representing Drama SA.  We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside OSASA, Kodaly, AusDance and ANCA to inspire and empower primary teachers, teaching Performing Arts and look forward to the next opportunity.  We are also grateful to the teachers who attended for being brave and fully embracing the learning opportunities.

It is our utmost joy to present the website of the IDEA 2024 World Congress that will take place in Beijing, China, from 15-20 July 2024. We also want to let you know that the call for proposals for papers and workshops is now open. IDEA exists to provide an international forum for communicating about, promoting, and advocating for drama/theatre and education. IDEA congresses support the development of drama/theatre practice and theory as part of a full human education.

A couple of examples from page 102 of the policy released on January 30th, 2023.

• Continue to support creative practice in the classroom through the delivery of five arts subjects (dance, drama, media arts, music, and visual arts) under the Australian Curriculum: The Arts, as well as cross-cutting general capabilities covering intercultural understanding and critical and creative thinking.

• Provide $2.6 million to support specialist in-school arts education programs that directly draw from cultural and creative sector expertise, focussing on areas of identified disadvantage.
