    State Educate also offers backstage tours, workshops associated with State Educate productions and specifically tailored workshops to support classroom learning. Engaging with the professionals that you have just seen performing provides an insight to theatre-making that is hard to find elsewhere.

  • Windmill Theatre Company creates original theatre for children, young people, and families in South Australia and takes their stories to the world.

    Since being founded in 2002, the company has presented 63 productions, including 36 brand new Australian works, performing to young audiences in 287 cities and towns across 30 countries.

    Windmill is inspired by the vibrancy, modern sophistication and inventiveness of young audiences and is driven to create theatre that’s ingenious, surprising and with a mega dose of imagination.

    In addition to providing dedicated schools’ performances and pricing for all South Australian seasons, Windmill collaborates with an incredible community of artists, educators and creatives to create free resources that deepen engagement with their work. 

  • Adelaide Festival Centre’s learning program, centrED provides exciting and comprehensive experiences for teachers and students to engage with and access performance and visual arts, combined with cross-curriculum learning in South Australia’s premier performing arts centre.

    centrED provides opportunities for art-making and responding linked to the Australian Curriculum and SACE for students and teachers.

  • DreamBIG Children’s Festival is South Australia’s iconic biennial arts festival for schools and families that places its audience at the centre of fresh, inventive, imaginative and inspiring arts experiences.

    More than 2 million South Australian children have participated in the festival since its inception in 1974 (as Come Out Festival), and it remains an intrinsic part of growing up in South Australia.

    Adelaide Festival Centre has produced DreamBIG since 2015, and has embraced the responsibility that comes with putting on an event that holds such an important place in the hearts and souls of South Australians of every age.

  • DreamBIG Children’s Festival is divided into two program streams – the school’s program where children participate in events and performances through their school, and the general public program for families.

    The next DreamBIG Children’s Festival will take place from 7 - 17 May 2025.

  • As an international festival, Adelaide Festival provides a unique opportunity for students to experience world-class performances and exhibitions which allows them to develop as active and interrogative theatregoers and cultural critics and consider new perspectives on the world in which they live. It provides a conduit for students and teachers to share creative conversations and critical debates on important global issues stimulated by the exciting companies in the program. 

    Teaching guides are produced for selected shows each festival. The festival has an equity partnership with foundations that provide funds for reduced tickets and transport for disadvantaged schools (economic and geographic).

    Bachelor of Performance (Theatre Making)

    Learn to lead behind the scenes through the design, development, and delivery of live and digital performance projects.

    Create original stories for stage and screen through hands-on experience across the production pipeline in the Bachelor of Performance (Theatre Making).  From performance experience and writing to design development and production management, this is an interdisciplinary program that will help you develop the skills and knowledge required to turn dreams into reality.
