In Conversation with Anchuli Felicia King

Drama SA is extremely fortunate to bring Anchuli Felicia King to you in conversation with Annette Shun Wah and not only that you will be able to ask questions. King also features as one of the panellists this year at OzAsia https://www.ozasiafestival.com.au/. In 2019 Anchuli Felicia King debuted three plays, a big achievement by any measure.

  • White Pearl, on the dark undertones of the skin-whitening industry

    - debuted at the Royal Court of London, then onto Australia, then Washington

  • Golden Shield – shaking viewer’s ideas about language and who has the right to translate. World premiere - Southbank Theatre Melbourne

  • Slaughterhouse – revealing the do or die nature of start-ups. World premiere - Sydney’s Belvoir Street Theatre.

In 2019 she won a commission from the American Shakespeare Centre to write something that interacts with and respond to the canon. Her play Keene responded to Othello. To add to these impressive achievements King is the current Patrick White Fellow at Sydney Theatre Company and is currently under commission with the Royal Court Theatre, the Manhattan Theatre Club, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company
