On Saturday May 29, DSA members undertook Part 1 of Finegan Kruckemeyer’s ‘Writing worlds and those within them’. The session was engaging and inspiring as we were taken on a journey of creative self-discovery and character conception.

Making and Creating Documentary Theatre was a zoom Professional Learning event that offered a great opportunity for educators to gain an understanding of the creative work of artist Roslyn Oades. Roslyn’s innovative work in the area of headphone verbatim and audio-driven performance projects provided an insight into her documentary theatre process.

Drama educators experienced a wonderful hands-on workshop leading educators through a variety of activities utilising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander methodologies, demonstrating that through the use of Drama as a pedagogy.

Last month DramaSA held our first Professional Learning Event of 2021: DSA Media Workshop: ‘Exploring the Filmmaking Process’!

This extremely successful practical hands-on event saw 25 delegates come together both in-person and online to learn and develop filming and editing techniques and discover practical and cost-effective data storage solutions and camera maintenance tips.

November 2020, 40 educators came together for DSA’s last Professional Learning (PL) event, the Senior Drama Teachers’ Forum. Even with the last-minute change from face to face to online, this extremely successful event saw Stage 2 drama educators work collaboratively to discuss and begin the planning process of tasks for the new Stage 2 Drama Course in 2021.

The DSA Executive was privileged to be taken on a tour of the newly renovated Her Majesty’s Theatre Wednesday 7 October. It was wonderful to see the changes that were made while keeping the 107-year history alive.

Happy World Teacher’s Day!
Today, October 5th is the International World Teacher’s Day. “In 2020, World Teachers’ Day will celebrate teachers with the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind.” (UNESCO 2020).
